Mistletoe

Mistletoe was sacred to the Druids. In a ceremony held five days after the New Moon following winter solstice, the Druid priests (male and female) would cut mistletoe from a holy oak tree with a golden sickle then distribute the sprigs for protection.

I celebrate the pagan festival at Mid-Winter and will leave a sprig at Knockroe, Co. Kilkenny, the ancient passage tomb which is aligned to the mid winter sunset and Slievenamon, so that it may radiate protection for you and all who are dear to you for the coming year. The sun rays illuminate the passage and alights on a triple spiral symbolising birth, death and renewal. It is a glorious thing.
