Corbally More

Sited on the top of a broad hill, this Red Sandstone monolith stands 1.2 meters tall and 1.1 metre wide. Unusually it has diagonal ridge on its NW face which is 15cm at its narrowest and widens to 23cm nearer to the base.

Also of interest here is that this stone bears a well defined a “cup mark” (early form of Rock Art) which is just above the ridge (arrowed in photo). The stone is oriented NE-SW.

A further standing stone previously listed across the road to the north is no longer visible.

Directions: From Waterford City take the road for Waterford Regional Airport.

2 km beyond the airport, turn left at the T junction. After 1.5km and just beyond a church in a valley take a right turn at an uphill junction signposted for “Saleens”. Drive another 1.5km till you come to the crossroads with “Saleens” signposted to the right. Turn left here going uphill, then right and left again. The stone can be found in a field at a bend in the road.
