Coumaraglinmountain - Prehistoric Enclosure

Situated on flat ground at the base of a west facing slope, this enclosure is sub circular in shape and measures 35 metres E-W and 31.5 metres N-S.

The area, which is on the upper reaches of the Araglin Valley, is defined by a collapsed grass covered stone spread with a width of 2.5- 3.5 metres reduced to scarp 0.7 metres at the west end.

An entrance 1.2 metres wide at the north is defined by a single triangular shaped stone with a circular depression on its west face which is thought to be a Cupmark.

The enclosure was possibly used for habitation and commands fine views to the west over the Cnoiceen Hill in the foreground.

Directions:  This site is reached from Coumaraglin Standing Stone 2, from where it is a walk of approx 650 metres to the South East.
