Exploring Waterford's Ancient Monuments

Moanfoun

Moanfoun

This bright coloured conglomerate standing stone has a commanding presence at its location right beside the roadway at a junction.

It’s one of Waterford’s taller stones standing 2.6 meters tall with its width of 1.75 metres which gives it extra bulk and probably makes it appear bigger than it actually is.

It is situated only about 3 km from Ballynamona court tomb in an area where there is many stones and boulders of varying sizes.

Directions: From Dungarvan take the N25 southwards for Cork. After about 4km take the road signposted left for Ring. Drive a further 2.5km till you reach the 4th turn to the right.  Turn right here and drive 4km. About 300 metres after the 4th crossroads will see the unmissable stone on the left.
