Mound
This circular mound is just off the road on the way to Faithlegg from Waterford City.
It has a diameter of approx 15 metres and is 1.25 metres high.
For safety to animals, it has been fenced off by the farmer as it has a depression in the centre amid the gorse bushes growing on top.
It’s uncertain if it is a prehistoric mound, and if so, what it was.
One possibility is that it may have been a small Fulacht Fia ( mound with depression used for cooking). This theory could have some credence as it is only about 30 metres from a small river which could have provided the water supply.
