Exploring Waterford's Ancient Monuments
Mysterious Ring
"I was near the summit of Crohaun mountain just walking around looking to see if I could get anyway interesting shots of Dungarvan Bay, when there in the heather below me I saw this circle".
"I reckon it must be about 2 meters in diameter".
"Firstly, I thought it may have been made by someone as a prank, but looking closer, it didn’t seem as if had been dug out. Then I thought, perhaps it may have been created by a motorbike but it would have taken ages to keep circling and achieve this".
"Also, I don’t think a motorcyclist could have made a perfect circle as tight as this".
"Anyway, it’s a bit of a mystery – had the "wee folk" (Fairies) been up to their tricks again or could it be the signs that some ancient prehistoric enclosure once existed here".
