Exploring Waterford's Ancient Monuments
Possible Burial Place?
“I came across this large flat topped stone which is located beside a Ring Fort on the slopes of Croughan Hill at Knockaturnory.
Oval in shape, it measures 1.25 X 1.0 metre and has a large piece of quartz placed on top in the centre.
Though much smaller, the stone is quite reminiscent of the Gaulstown Cist, having a space and a number of small stones underneath”.
