Exploring Waterford's Ancient Monuments

Raheens

Raheens

Originally there was a pair of standing stones at this site, but now just one remains with no trace of the other to be seen.

The remaining stone stands just over 2 metres tall and can easily seen out in the middle of a field. It’s a very slender narrow monument with a sharp spear-like tip. Its orientation is NNW-SSE.

Directions: From Waterford City travel the N25 for Cork until you reach Kilmeaden. As you enter the village take the R681 for Bunmahon which veers downwards to the left. A short way  down here at a corner, veer right and then take left at the next junction. Not far from here is a farm track on a corner. The stone is in the second field on the left side of this track.
