Moanfoun
This bright coloured conglomerate standing stone has a commanding presence at its location right beside the roadway at a junction.
It’s one of Waterford’s taller stones standing 2.6 meters tall with its width of 1.75 metres which gives it extra bulk and probably makes it appear bigger than it actually is.
It is situated only about 3 km from...

Mothel - Carved Stone
The carvings on this stone are a number of small hollows or 'cupmarks', most of which are surrounded by a single circle. One cupmark has two circles, one within the other. The stone is triangular in shape with a curved surface measuring 0.5 X 0.41 X 0.17 metres.

Munmahoge
This Wedge tomb, which is difficult enough to find, is part of a bank and field boundary. The boundary seems to cut through the tomb which is quite overgrown and makes it difficult to see from a distance. It’s situated on the top of a North facing slope and from it you can see the nearby Knockeen Dolmen across a small stream.
The tomb...

Pembrokestown Motte
Pembrokestown Motte or Tumulus is only a short walking distance from one of Waterford’s best known megalithic sites, Gaulstown. However, despite its close proximity to the Portal Tomb it remains relatively unknown and would be seldom visited by those coming to see the Gaulstown monument.
The earthen construction, which is beautifully located...

Pickardstown
Pickardstown standing stone is located in what could be truly called an ancient landscape. The stone, with a rounded tip, stands 1.5 metres tall on a spur of a hill with valleys on each side to the East and West and just a glimpse of the Celtic sea horizon to the south.
Set in what looks like a strategic location, the monument, though...

Powersknock
Powersknock standing stone differs from the more usual type found in Co. Waterford because of its unique broad appearance.
It is more reminiscent of a tombstone or an orthostat used in the construction of portal tombs. Easily seen from the road it stands 2 metres tall and is 1.6 metres wide. Perhaps it is the remains of a portal tomb or...

Raheens
Originally there was a pair of standing stones at this site, but now just one remains with no trace of the other to be seen.
The remaining stone stands just over 2 metres tall and can easily seen out in the middle of a field. It’s a very slender narrow monument with a sharp spear-like tip. Its orientation is...
